Learn how to decipher, by sound and sight, four species of hummingbirds that migrate through Colorado from mid-summer into fall. Broad-tailed, Black-chinned, Rufous, and Calliope hummingbirds should all be present during this workshop. Learn how to identify each species by their chip notes, wing trills, and courtship display sounds, along with their field marks, bill shapes, head shapes, and behaviors. Identifying them isn’t always easy, especially when females and juveniles are involved. We’ll also have the chance to see other mountain birds along the way. This fun and educational experience is open to bird enthusiasts of all levels, ages 14 and up.

Save the birds! By participating, you are helping the birds at the same time! All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, supporting bird conservation through science, education, and land stewardship.

Location: A private residence in the scenic mountains of Lyons, Colorado, with incredible close-up views of hummingbirds at multiple feeders. The exact address and details will be emailed to registered guests the day before the event. *See FAQ.
