DUCK ID FIELD TRIP

Discover ducks up close, sharpen your birding skills, and support conservation in one memorable morning!

Colorado is home to colorful ducks and other waterfowl. Explore wetlands around Lakewood, CO, focusing on duck ID by sight and sound. Build confidence and, with a little duck luck, catch courtship dances. We’ll also watch and listen for other species.

Save the birds: By participating, you are helping the birds at the same time! All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, supporting bird conservation through science, education, and land stewardship.

Meeting location: We will meet at a central spot in Lakewood, then caravan to several lakes. Registered guests receive meeting location and details the day before the event.

Registration opens November 1, 2025, at 9:30 AM and closes November 21, 2025, at 2 PM MST. Join the Birding By Ear mailing list for updates or add this save the date to your calendar.

Note: If you cancel three or more days before the event, you will receive a refund minus the PayPal fee. No refunds will be issued after that time, but please cancel to allow room for others to sign up.

Do I need prior birding experience?
If you’re interested in birds, you’re in the right place. Our events are designed for birdwatchers of all levels, from brand new to expert.

What should I bring?
Binoculars or a scope if you have them, water, and comfortable walking shoes. Dress for the weather. Feel free to bring a camera if you’d like to photograph birds during the event.

Why isn’t the exact meeting location listed?
We scout the area before each trip to find where the birds are most active, giving you the best possible birdwatching experience.

Is my registration refundable?
Refunds are available up to 3 days before the event. PayPal fees are non-refundable.
